The Dermapen is a fractional micro-needling device that is used at DermaGlow Aesthetic to treat skin traumas.
The Dermapen works to reduce
- Acne scars
- Surgical Scars
- Fine lines
The Dermapen is a device that works in a stamp-like motion to puncture your skin with 11 stainless steel microneedles. Even though it seems intimidating, the treatment is not harmful and not painful, although a light anaesthetic is applied before the treatment begins.
The benefits of Dermapen therapy
- Minimised pores
- Rejuvenated skin
- Tightened face
- Lifted, Youthful look
- Stimulated collagen in your skin
The Dermapen works like an automated stamp. The practitioner performing the treatment will decide how many Millimetres the needles will penetrate into your skin. The levels available on the Dermapen range from 0.25 mm to 2.5 mm. The levels used on your face depend on how damaged the skin is. Sometimes, to improve facial contours, the levels are changed throughout the face.
When the Dermapen penetrates the skin it damages a cell, this then eventually leads to higher levels of TGF Beta-3 (Transforming Growth Factor Beta-3). This cytokine plays an important role in scar and wound healing. Fibroblasts are then attracted and stimulate new collagen production, resulting in the client having tighter and more youthful appearing skin.
To reach the best outcome, it is recommended that the client returns for more treatment sessions as well as annual top-ups. Depending on how severe the scars are, Dermapen therapy requires 3-6 visits, each at least a month apart.
